About Us
The festival has been running for more than thirty years. In
2010 the organisation of the festival was taken over by
Nuneaton Arts Council (the charity registered body that runs
the Abbey Theatre, Nuneaton). This support to the festival, in
the form of providing a performing venue and technical staff,
gave renewed impetus and energy.
The Abbey Theatre has a 250 tiered seating auditorium, front
of house bar and refreshment counter, and 4 backstage
dressing rooms. It undergoes frequent maintenance and
upgrading of it's technical facilities and for the techies amongst
you, details of those facilities can be found on the theatre
website.
The 2016 festival attracted the largest number of entries in the
event’s history.
There were fourteen entries performed over five sessions and
an estimate of 90 actors and backstage staff being involved.
It is the aim to extend the festival to run over a full week of six
sessions by 2022.
